MUMBAI: Car prices have started coming down after the finance minister announced a cut in excise duties last week. Maruti Suzki has reduced prices by as much as Rs 8,000 for its Maruti 800 model to Rs 30,000 for the SX4.
Hyundai Santro has cut prices by Rs 10,000 to Rs 1.35 lakh, while Volkswagen cars got cheaper by Rs 14,500 to Rs 51,000, depending on your choice. “Most manufacturers have passed on the reduction in excise duty and reduced prices. Reduced prices, along with year-end discounts make it a good time to buy a car,” says Vinay Sanghi, MD, cartrade.com, an automobile website.
Experts say buyers can try their luck and ask for even more discounts as many dealers would be desperately trying to offload their stocks before the end of the financial year. “Dealers and manufacturers have a lot of inventory and would try their very best to clear it in this financial year,” says Kunal Khattar, vice president , Carnation Auto.
