KOLKATA: State-run Coal India has scheduled a board meeting on March 13, the same day when the officers’ association of the monopoly miner is set to start a three-day strike.
This is possibly the first time a board meeting of the company is being held on the day when its officers plan to strike work implying that there might not be anybody to assist the 15 board directors.
“We did not plan the strike on the March 13 to coincide with the board meeting. In fact, we did not know about the meeting when we served our strike notice,” said PK Singh, general secretary of the Coal Mines Officers’ Association of India. But he added, “It is a pure coincidence. However, we do not plan to change the date.”
