TN govt announces measures to strengthen power infrastructure


In a bid to effectively generate, handle and distribute electricity, the Tamil Nadu government today announced a slew of measures in the Assembly to strengthen power infrastructure in the state.

Electricity Minister, Natham R Viswanathan said the Generator Protection System installed in the fourth unit in Tuticorin Thermal Power Plant would be replaced with latest technology at a cost of Rs.81 lakh.

While the excitation system in units 2 and 4 of Mettur Thermal Power Plant, fifth unit of Tuticorin Thermal Power Plant, 2nd and 3rd units of North Chennai Thermal Power Plant would be replaced at a cost of Rs. 7.29 crore, Biler Feed Pumps in second unit of Tuticorin Thermal Plant would be replaced at Rs. 9.22 crore, he said.
