The block development officer (BDO) of Mulshi taluka has urged companies based in the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park to ‘adopt’ any of the 95 villages located close by to help build basic civic infrastructure, sanitation and also create better educational facilities.
Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, BDO Shalini Kadu held an informal meeting with representatives of the Hinjewadi Industries Association to discuss ways in which the companies can contribute towards development in the region.
Speaking to the TOI, Kadu said, “About 3,500 households in my block do not have toilets. The industries can use their corporate social responsibility funds to help build toilets for them. Of the 95 villages in Mulshi district, 45 villages lack in basic sanitation and need immediate attention.”
